The department covers a wide range of academic, extra-curricular and students administrative activities such as personal counseling, accommodation, student advisory services, admission, student records, discipline and other problems which a student might face during his/her course of academic stay in this institute.
The information provided here about the academic programs of various disciplines of Margalla Institute of Health Sciences should not be taken as binding on the Institute. Information contained herein, including curriculum, admission procedure, criteria of examinations regulation, discipline, fee, fines and dues etc., is periodically reviewed and revised by the competent authority and the authority has the rights to change any rules, regulations and financial effects applicable to students whenever it is deemed appropriate or necessary.
Migration is basically discouraged; however, it is permissible in certain cases as per migration policy of the university on mutual migration basis. In such cases, the following rules are stringently observed:
+ Migration is not permitted unless the student has passed his First Professional BDS examination.
+ After seeking permission from the Principal to apply for migration, a migration processing fee of Rs. 25,000/- is to be deposited by the applicant; irrespective of the final outcome.
+ A student from another Medical/Dental colleges must report for admission in the same class and give an undertaking to follow the fee rules. Only then the student desirous of migration to another college will be permitted to migrate.
+ Migration will not be allowed unless the student has cleared all the college/hostel dues l Migration will not be allowed to a student who has been debarred from taking professional/local examination or has been expelled or rusticated; as long as the punishment remains enforced.
Note: The college authorities can amend the above quoted rules whenever deemed necessary to keep discipline, law and order in the institute and will not be challenged in any court of law.

+ When the teacher enters the classroom, the students will stand up and will remain standing till they are directed to sit or till the teacher takes his seat.
+ No student is allowed to leave the classroom without permission of the teacher.
+ Immediately after assembly of the class, the roll call shall be taken and absence will be marked. A student coming late in the classroom will be marked absent unless the teacher accepts his/her excuse.
+ Misbehavior of a student shall at once be reported by the teacher to the Principal through the respective HOD, who will take action as deemed necessary.
+ Students are not allowed to keep their cell phones switched on inside the classroom or where an organized academic activity is going on.
+ Students are not allowed to take textbooks, notes, bags or cell phones into the examination hall.
+ Any student found infringing the examination rules or having recourse to unfair means may be debarred from the examination and the matter shall be dealt with according to the University Rules. In case of such happening in the class/terms tests, the matter shall be reported to the Principal who may refer this case to the College Disciplinary Committee.
+ Late comers arriving at the examination hall more than 30 minutes after the start of the paper will not be allowed to sit in the examination.
+ Every student is required to attend the clinical teaching and perform ward duties regularly at the notified time.
+ Students attending the hospital are required to abide by the rules of the hospital administration, who may award any punishment to a student committing any offence in the hospital or for negligence in carrying out the duties entrusted to him/her in the hospital. The punishment may amount to debar him/her from attending any or all departments of the hospital for a period up to three months or impose a fine up to Rs. 5000/- as considered appropriate.
+ Every student is required to attend the clinical departments to fulfill the clinical quota as per UHS/PM&DC requirements.
+ Student attending clinical department are liable to abide by the rules and regulations of the hospital administration.
For all such offences that occur in the college, hostels or hospital, the Principal, may at his discretion refer the case to the college disciplinary committee, which shall be appointed by the college management from time to time. This committee shall have the power to interview any student or a staff member and will send its recommendations to the Principal. After considering the recommendations of the college disciplinary committee, the Principal is empowered to take one or more of the following disciplinary actions depending upon severity of the offence (Apart from directing make well the loss/damage):
The students may be:
+ Asked to render an apology, verbal or written. This will be placed on the student’s record.
+ Placed under observation for a period up to one year. If during this period, he fails to improve his conduct, he may be expelled from the college.
+ Fined up to Rs. 500 to 5000/-.
+ Suspended from the college rolls for a period of up to two weeks at a time.
+ Expelled from the college and expulsion notified to all other medical colleges and universities of Pakistan.
The Principal is competent to remit fines and punishment already imposed. The decision of the Principal in all cases will be final.
+ No person shall be enrolled at the Margalla Institute of Health Sciences, Islamabad except on the strict understanding that the candidate intends to obtain his/her professional qualification.
+ Every student is required to attend punctually the required hours notified for lessons and practical classes. He/she must have 75% of total attendance in an academic year to be eligible to appear in the University examination.
+ Students are required to obey orders and maintain discipline at all times in the college and the hostel or during any other activity arranged/conducted by the Institution.
+ No game of any sort is to be played during the college and hospital working hours.
+ Display and distribution of political party’s pamphlets or circulars etc in the college and hospital premises are strictly prohibited.
+ All irregularities, neglect of duties and breach of discipline are to be brought to the notice of the Principal by the teachers under whom the student is working.
+ Leave application must be submitted to the Principal in writing through respective class teacher.
+ All the students will pay their tuition fee in advance every year, in case of delay will be liable to late fee charges which will be 5% per month.
+ If a student fails in supplementary in any session and loses one year, will be liable to pay fee as mentioned in PM&DC and PCP statute.
+ In all cases, the leave taken will be at the student’s own risk as far as the percentage of attendance is concerned and even a medical certificate will not condone a deficiency in attendance.
+ A student who is absent without leave, continuously for a period of two weeks will be struck off from the college roll.
+ In case of absence, fine of Rs. 100/- per class will be charged.
+ Students are prohibited to address any petition directly to a higher authority/press or unauthorized person.
+ Students desirous of addressing the Principal by a letter must do so individually. Joint applications are inadmissible.
+ Any student wishing to make representation on a subject has the right of direct access to the Principal during the college hours at the prescribed time.
+ The Principal, Dean, HOD’s, Faculty and other staff members are accessible at any time to listen to the difficulties and grievances of the students and shall always be prepared to help them.
+ Non-payment of college/hostel/transportation dues within stipulated time may result in cancellation of admission.

Committing the following acts within the college, hospital or hostel premises will warrant a strict disciplinary action against the defaulters.
+ Submitting false evidence
+ Stealing
+ Willful destruction of equipment, furnishings.
+ Physical violence against other students, faculty members, staff or patients.
+ Ragging, fooling the students anywhere.
+ Use of prohibited drugs
+ Possession of fire arms and crackers in the college or hostel campus.
+ Violation of basic human rights.
+ Organizing/creating civil disturbance.
+ Non-payment of tuition and other fees/dues.
+ Protracted absence without permission from lectures, clinical duties and the inability to cope with the curriculum.
+ Smoking within the college or hospital premises.
+ Displaying and disseminating partisan, political pamphlets, CDs or circulars etc anywhere
Any student violating the discipline will be pertinently fined in addition to other disciplinary actions.

Sweater / Blazer, Badges to be purchased only from the shops approved by the institute.
